Exosomes derived from dermal papilla (DP)

dermal papilla cells support hair growth and regulate the hair cycle, and that DP spheroid culture can restore inductive properties lost in conventional culture.

Secretome and exosomes were isolated from DP-cell culture and highlights miR-218-5p in DP-spheroid-derived exosomes.

  • DP spheroids promoted telogen-to-anagen progression compared with DP cells or minoxidil treatment.
  • miR-218-5p regulates β-catenin signalling and promotes hair-follicle development/regeneration.
  • β-catenin is described as involved in cell-cell adhesion and proliferation of human hair-follicle dermal papilla cells.
